Our story…
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, we are first generation, Trinidadian-American. We are children of parents from the island of Trinidad and Tobago-home to soca music, one of the best carnivals in the world and to some of the most delicious, eclectic and diverse food in the Caribbean! We grew up loving to indulge in the rich flavors of the islands. When we moved to Long Island, NY over a decade ago, we noticed fairly quickly the minimal exclusively Trinidadian cuisine options in our neighborhood and throughout Long Island. We quickly grew tired of driving cross county, sometimes 30-40 minutes, in traffic, with no guarantee of a place to park, to get the food we were born and raised with.
Excellent, experienced cooks, with a dream to one day open a culinary space of our own, longing for a place nearby with high quality Trinidadian-inspired food, paired with high quality customer service, we decided to start Trini Bites, a Trinidadian-inspired pop up and catering service! We wanted to go beyond, elevate the culture, and amplify the voice of another Caribbean island, on Long Island! The concept of ‘Bites’ came from wanting smaller, healthier portion sizes—sizes that won’t weigh you down but will fulfill that immediate Trini food need. We also include variations and innovations to our menu to set us apart from the rest. We like to say we pack BIG flavor, in small bites!
Our catering options are magical, as we put our own twist on some of the classic Trinidadian food themes, while sticking with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking. Imagine having something a little different for your event and not having to go far to get that Trini flavor! Catering orders can be delivered or picked up in our commercial kitchen, conveniently located in Lynbrook, Long Island (Nassau County).
In 2023, we embarked on our first Food Truck season! The FIRST exclusively all Trini food truck made its appearance and it was wonderful! We catered (with our truck) at birthday parties, graduation parties, wedding after parties, local universities, just to name a few! Can’t wait to be back (in our Truck) very soon!
We are also proud Alumni of the Smorgasburg Prospect Park (Brooklyn) Class of 2024, where we served under our flavorful concept, Double(s) or Nothin’! The highly coveted and infamous street food of Trinidad and Tobago made its way to Smorgasburg, the largest outdoor food market in the country, for the FIRST time, courtesy of Trini Bites!
There will be many more chapters to our journey…this is just the beginning! Stay tuned and we hope you enjoy the ride!
